If you are like us you are excited for summer, not just because summer shoes are so cute and comfy, but because you're tired of sorting and searching for matching socks! Am I right? Summer is a great time to feel the earth under your bare feet, but what do you look for in an ideal summer shoe when you need something more? Let us help guide you toward summer shoe bliss!

When considering summer shoes for your little one keep age, development, and activity in mind. Younger babies and developing walkers will have differing shoe choices and needs than more active bigger kids.

1. Toe Protection: Little toes can be pretty tender. When looking for toddler sandals, you'll want to protect their toes with a closed-toe or peep-toe shoe. A closed-toe shoe will prevent stubs, scrapes, and debris from entering the shoe and hurting little feet. Save the open-toes shoes for big kids and grown-ups!

2. Back Buffer: Look for a sandal with a closed back, this will protect the heel and ankle. Plus it will help the shoe to remain securely on squirmy, active little feet!

3. Materials: Opt for natural, breathable materials when selecting any shoes for your child. Leather makes a beautiful choice for a durable shoe. Canvas is a great choice for infants and developing walkers. Nylon is great when water is involved, as these will dry the quickest. Steer away from non-breathable plastics, especially for younger children.

4. Traction: The biggest thing you'll want to avoid is slips and falls, especially on the pool deck! Look for a rubber sole with lots of channels for water wicking. Suede is a great option for younger babies to gain traction indoors.

5. Comfort: Whether at the beach, the pool, or your own backyard, your child will be most comfortable in shoes or sandals that allow a little air to get their toes. Be sure to choose shoes that won't constrict their natural movements and allow their toes to wiggle freely.

Whatever you choose, be sure to stay hydrated, wear your sunblock and and have fun!

pediped Flex are here!

Spring 09 pediped Flex just arrived at TinySoles! This much anticipated line has taken some of your old favorite styles like the Giselle and Abigail and turned them into cute sandals ready for summer fun. Right now 7 of the 12 new Spring styles are IN STOCK and available at TinySoles with the rest arriving this week. We do have the Lily White in stock, but since pediped is already sold out of them we are sure ours will go fast too! Never fear we will be getting more in mid March.

pediped Flex is a line of flexible rubber soled shoes for children ages 1-5 years available in US children's sizes 5-12.5. Developed specifically for growing toddlers, pediped Flex is the next best thing to bare feet for active children. Consistent with pediped's Original leather soft soled line, the rubber soled line features flexible, skid resistant rubber soles and supple, premium-grade leather uppers. To support active feet, the Flex collection also includes ultra-pliable FLEX ZONES to provide maximum flexibility while maintaining stability. Shock absorbing air cushion technology on each heel protects against impact and distributes pressure evenly through-out the foot. Perfect for running, jumping and playing, Flex provide the perfect blend of comfort, protection and style.

What does all this really mean? Simply put, pediped Flex are a flexible shoe with more support and protection than a first walker rubber sole such as See Kai Run and Robeez Tredz. We think Flex are perfect for active, confident walkers but we hear feedback from our customers that their early walkers have no problem walking in these too. We find Flex work well for narrow to wide feet, with particular styles that work better for different widths. For extra wide feet, we recommend See Kai Run and KEEN. As an added bonus, all the pediped Flex SHOE styles (not sandals) come with an extra set of 2mm insoles to customize the fit for your child. The idea is that you can start with both insoles and then remove the extra one as your child's foot grows to extend the life of the shoe. Fresh off the Truck

Its a big day at our warehouse today. We just received a new shipment of Rileyroos to replenish our stock, so most styles should now be back in stock and available to buy! We also received a LARGE shipment of See Kai Run and Smaller by See Kai Run, which we are diligently checking in right now. They should be available on the TinySoles website sometime late today or early tomorrow.
